Dr Richard Maxwell (Max) Zuber

BVSc FANZCVS

Richard Maxwell (Max) Zuber BVSc, FANZCVS, AM is a distinguished veterinary surgeon and specialist with over five decades of experience in small animal practice. A Member of the Order of Australia for his contributions to veterinary science, education, and professional leadership, Max pioneered the use of radioactive iodine in feline thyroid disease in the 1980s and established the Southern Hemisphere’s first nuclear medicine facility for companion animals in 1990. His expertise spans orthopaedic surgery, oncology, and nuclear medicine, with widely cited publications on thyroid cancer treatment in dogs. As an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, he has taught and mentored veterinary students since 1979, while also contributing internationally through visiting appointments in the United States and Europe.

Dr David Lurie

BVSc, Diplomate ACVIM (Oncology), ACVR (Radiation Oncology)

Dr David Lurie  DVM, DACVIM (Oncology), DACVR (Radiation Oncology) is a dual-boarded medical and radiation oncology specialist with over two decades of experience advancing cancer care for companion animals. Following an internship at the University of Illinois, he completed medical and radiation oncology residencies at the University of California, Davis, before joining the University of Florida as a founding member of its oncology program. David went on to lead oncology services at major veterinary centres in Miami and Orlando, and co-founded ONE Cancer Care for Pets. As a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Radiology, he brings exceptional expertise to PET Theranostics, where he is an essential member of the team driving innovation in cancer diagnosis and treatment for pets.

Vivien Munoz-Ferrada

Vivien Munoz-Ferrada Dip Med Rad. Dip Med Phys is a highly accomplished radiographer and medical physicist with over 35 years of expertise in radiation regulatory compliance, protection, and safety across nuclear medicine, theranostics, and diagnostic radiology. Recognised as a Consulting Radiation Expert in every Australian state, Vivien brings expert knowledge and leadership to the field. Her dedication to advancing medical treatments for companion animals, combined with her extensive experience, enhances the strength of the PET Theranostics team. Together, they are committed to delivering the highest care and treatment for family pets.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE RESEARCHER

Dr Jason Callahan

Dr Jason Callahan, BAppSc, PhD, is a nuclear medicine specialist and researcher with more than 20 years of experience in advanced PET/CT imaging. A graduate of RMIT University, he completed his PhD in 2016, focusing on the clinical application of molecular imaging techniques. Jason has co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications with more than 4,000 citations, establishing himself as a leading contributor to oncologic imaging research. As Head of Clinical and Research Operations at the Melbourne Theranostic Innovation Centre, he drives cancer diagnosis and treatment innovation. As a key member of the PET Theranostics team, he brings world-class expertise in molecular imaging and translational research.
