At PET Theranostics, we use the same world-class PET-CT/CT technology trusted in human cancer care purpose-built for pets. A PET-CT scan shows what tissues look like and how they are working, giving your vet a clearer picture of your pet’s health more than any other imaging tool. This helps identify cancer, measure its spread and track the effectiveness of treatments.

The process is simple and safe: Your vet refers your pet to us, we perform the scan under gentle sedation or anaesthesia so your pet is calm and comfortable, and we send the results and report back to your vet. Your family vet or specialist remains at the centre of care, and we provide the extra clarity to help them and you make the best decisions for your pet.

Before you arrive, you will receive a detailed preparation pack outlining admission, pre-scan preparation, sedation and scan procedure details, recovery and discharge information. Your pet will be cared for by experienced veterinary specialists who ensure it remains safe, relaxed, and pain-free during the scan.

The scan itself only takes 20–30 minutes, but you’ll need to allow a few hours for preparation and recovery.

Most pets go home the same day, often within a few hours. The small amount of tracer used in the scan is naturally eliminated from the body, typically within 24 hours. There’s no pain associated with the procedure itself; it’s essentially like having a special camera take detailed pictures from the inside.
